Finding my glow: Self Tanner + CC Cream

Jergens Natural Glow and Lise Watier

As warmer weather approaches, my mind wanders to breezy sundresses and flowy skirts. But my fair skin tends to look drab against summer’s bounty of prints and palettes. I don’t sit in the sun (for reasons I explain in the video), so I look to self tanners to give my body a subtle glow. I’ve tried a lot of products, and my all-time favourite is Jergens Natural Glow in Fair/Medium. The factors that make it a winning combination: colour develops over time so ‘oh no I look orange!’ moments are eliminated; it’s moisturizing and firming so skin feels super soft when using it regularly; it’s affordable (around $10); and lastly, it’s widely available: drug stores, department stores, and select grocery stores.

I don’t use self tanner on my face because all the products I’ve tried make my skin look greasy. So on my face, I use a CC Cream (Colour Correcting Cream). It’s similar to foundation, but lighter weight and subtle; and most have added benefits of moisturizing and SPF. I’m fairly new to CC creams, and I haven’t tried many of them, but I love what I’m currently using: Lise Watier CC Crème with SPF 25.  It goes on light and smooth, and evens out the redness in my skin. It’s available at Hudson’s Bay and Shoppers Drug Mart for $50. Once warmer weather really kicks in, I’ll also layer on a dusting of bronzing powder to achieve more of a sun-kissed look.
